The Atabapo River is featured in the Freshwater Natural Aquarium Documentary.

The Atabapo River is located on the south western Amazon State of Venezuela. It is one of the many large rivers that drain its waters into the Orinoco River.

The Atabapo River houses many fish that are kept by millions of aquarium hobbyists around the world. One of the most famous ones being the Pterophyllum altum commonly called the Altum Angelfish in the aquarium hobby. It also is the habitat of endemic rare species of piranhas such as the Pristobrycon careospinus.
